1

Re-import visible Keep labels

  1. 1.Open the extension popup and choose Settings.
  2. 2.Use Re-import from Google Keep to scan native labels visible in Keep.
  3. 3.Review detected, new, and conflicting labels, then choose merge or replace.
2

Export and restore a local backup

  1. 1.Open Advanced in the extension popup and export your labels.
  2. 2.Keep the downloaded JSON file somewhere you control.
  3. 3.To restore, choose a backup file, review the validation preview, then merge or replace.
  • Backups include hierarchy, descriptions, colors, order, version metadata, and an account hint.
  • Invalid parents and hierarchy cycles are repaired during validated import.
  • A replace import can be undone only during the current popup session.

Understand settings and storage

SubKeep stores its hierarchy and preferences in Chrome local extension storage. Data is separated by the detected Google Keep account, and account-specific controls are disabled when the active account cannot be resolved safely.

  • Google Keep's native labels are hidden by default and can be shown from Settings.
  • Expanded branches, selected label, section state, and the last export time persist locally.
  • The landing website separately uses the services described in the Privacy Policy; extension-local behavior does not describe website form or analytics processing.

Important boundaries

  • Re-import reads visible native labels; it does not create, rename, or delete Keep labels.
  • Backup undo is session-scoped and disappears when the popup closes.
  • The current assignments export field is reserved for forward compatibility and does not contain note-to-label assignments.
